Forest School Early Years Educator

The Cherry Lodge Childcare is proud to facilitate our dedicated Nature Kindergarten where children are given a unique experience to instigate their own learning within the natural world.

We are seeking a dedicated and passionate early years practitioner to join our team to take ownership of planning, developing and delivering outdoor education across our two sites. This is a unique opportunity for a dynamic individual who is ready for the next challenge in their career.

You must hold a minimum of a Level 3 early years qualification and be driven by the benefits of what outdoor education can bring to children. Formal forest school qualifications preferred with full training provided for the right candidate.

  • Develop and implement engaging educational programmes tailored to the needs of each child.
  • Create a safe, inclusive, and stimulating environment that encourages exploration and learning.
  • Observe and assess children’s progress, providing feedback to parents and guardians as necessary.
  • Communicate effectively with children, parents, and colleagues to build strong relationships.
  • Manage behaviour in a positive manner, promoting respect and cooperation among children.
  • Collaborate with other educators to share best practices and enhance the overall quality of care provided.
  • Lead activities that promote physical, social, emotional, and cognitive development in young children.
  • Maintain accurate records of children’s development and daily activities in compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • A qualification in Early Childhood Education or Childcare is essential.
  • Previous experience working with children in a nursery or similar setting is highly desirable.
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to inspire and motivate both children and colleagues.
  • Excellent communication skills in English, enabling effective interaction with children, parents, and staff.
  • A genuine drive for fostering children’s development through creative play and structured learning experiences.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks effectively while maintaining a calm demeanour in a busy environment.

Nursery Practitioner

If you are passionate about working with children and providing quality practice and care for children, then we would love to hear from you! We are seeking an enthusiastic and motivated Level 3 qualified Early Years Practitioner with baby room experience to join our fabulous team.

The Cherry Lodge Childcare is a friendly place to work and as a privately run nursery, our staff are cared for on a personal level and encouraged to flourish in their ongoing training and professional development. We are a work family who look after each other and place the children we care for at the centre of everything we do.

As a Baby Room practitioner, you will join a hardworking team to ensure that our youngest children are cared for, nurtured and kept safe whilst providing fun-filled learning opportunities.

  • Deliver engaging and age-appropriate educational activities that promote children’s learning and development.
  • Create a safe, stimulating, and inclusive environment for all children.
  • Observe and assess children’s progress, documenting their development and communicating findings to parents and colleagues.
  • Manage daily nursery routines, including meal times, nap times, and play activities.
  • Collaborate with other staff members to ensure the smooth running of the nursery.
  • Communicate effectively with parents, providing updates on their child’s progress and addressing any concerns.
  • Lead by example, demonstrating best practices in childcare and early education.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organisation within the nursery space.
  • A strong team player who will have confidence and knowledge in ensuring the statutory framework is adhered to at all times.
  • You must have a strong knowledge of the Development Matters Guidance Document and must be aware of the importance of planning, observing and carrying out activities with the children.
  • Have experience of a key-person system and have completed planning and observations for individual children’s learning styles and needs
  • Proven experience in a nursery or childcare setting is essential.
  • A qualification in Early Childhood Education or equivalent is esssential.
  • Excellent communication skills in English, both verbal and written.
  • Experience working with children of various ages, understanding their developmental needs.
  • Be willing to complete additional training to keep up to date with current legal requirements and to enhance own Continuous Professional Development.
